"iPodder is the bastard offspring of the blog and the Apple MP3 player. It
combines the hyperactive talkiness of blogs and the hipness of iPods into
something utterly new: the podcast. iPodder uses the blog syndication tool RSS
to automatically download homebrew radio shows, podcasts, directly into a
portable MP3 player."

Wired explores the explosion of podcasting and talks to former MTV icon Adam Curry who has become the face of this rising self-publishing movement. Whether you view podcasting as a threat to commercial radio, a charming amateur alternative or just another Internet fad, you can’t ignore the attention that podcasting is receiving from the the media….just take a look at the front page of The New York Times from this past Sunday…

The Wired article is a great read and provides a good list of resources for the podcast curious, as well as basic instructions for creating your own. There is a good deal of marketing opportunity for bands and labels, with additional possibilities born every day as podcasting grows in popularity and matures as a technology. The simplicity of podcasting combined with the low cost creation and distribution creates a situation where something cool and compelling is just waiting for creative ideas and a few mouse clicks….
