Will Howard Stern Podcast?

January 3rd, 2006 · No Comments

The podcasting craze of 2005 continues into 2006 due largely to the enormous amount of iPods sold during the holiday season, sparking a flurry of subscription activity to podcasts. My thought this morning as I was reading the installation instructions on my new Sirius was that an authorized Howard Stern podcast from his new home at Sirius would take podcasting to a whole new level, and perhaps even catalyze additional Sirius subscriptions. I’ll even go out on a limb and suggest that a Stern podcasting initiative could be the first widespread paid podcasting subscription service.

There is no doubt that Stern’s first days on the air will certainly be recorded and shared on P2P networks…as this is inevitable, it makes sense for Sirius to get out ahead of it and do it themselves. A simple registration requirement to get the podcasts would also give Sirius some interesting demographic data, and an email database of Stern fans that are potential Sirius subscribers.

Stern’s media blitz continues as his kickoff date of 1/9 approaches…lets see if the King of All Media adds New Media to his kingdom…
