“The Delphi XM MyFi™ is the world’s first XM2go receiver — a personal XM satellite radio.” So reads the sentence atop the webpage of XM’s newest piece of hardware. It’s portable. It’s rechargeable. Most significantly, it records . The ability to record “on the fly” as you listen is cool, but the ability to schedule the recording of favorite programs is a killer app. It’s Tivo for radio. The hypothetical future implications are enormous. Will we live in a universe where storage space is inexpensive enough for devices like this to record months of programming, with a docking station or other interface that allows you to search your archive for that hot new artist you saw on Leno the previous night?
