One of the classic, all-time great live jazz albums. Recorded 31 May, 1956 with Kenny Dorham (trumpet), Kenny Burrell (guitar), J.R. Monterose (tenor sax), Bobby Timmons (piano), Sam Jones (bass) and Arthur Edgehill (drums). The expanded “complete” edition (available digitally and adding 11 more tracks) is worth considering to give you the full flavor of what it was like to be at the Cafe Bohemia that night, but the sonics on this MusicMatters 45RPM pressing are sublime as this show is really beautifully recorded and as I’m listening I feel like I’m right in the front row. This band COOKS. #jazzandcoffee #vinyl #jazz #bluenoterecords #kennydorham #musicmattersjazz
